The RAB Lighting T17FA is a slim, high-efficiency field adjustable LED troffer engineered for modern commercial drop ceilings. Available in three sizes — 1×4 (T17FA-1X4), 2×2 (T17FA-2X2), and 2×4 (T17FA-2X4) — and in both Standard and Battery Backup (/E) configurations, all models feature field-selectable wattage, selectable 3500K/4000K/5000K CCT, and 0-10V dimming on a universal 120-277V input. The 1×4 and 2×2 deliver up to 5,038–5,142 lumens at 40W; the 2×4 delivers up to 6,521 lumens at 50W — all at 84 CRI through a frosted polystyrene lens for smooth, glare-free illumination. Battery Backup models add an integrated 90-minute emergency system for NEC/IBC-compliant egress lighting. All models drop into standard T-bar ceiling grids and are compatible with optional surface and recessed drywall mounting kits (sold separately).

90-Minute Battery Backup (Battery Backup Models)

Battery Backup (/E) models include an integrated emergency battery system that automatically activates during a power failure, operating the fixture at a reduced lumen level for a minimum of 90 minutes to support safe building evacuation. These models comply with NEC and IBC emergency egress lighting requirements. Important: An unswitched hot supply line must be connected to maintain battery charge. Minimum starting temperature for battery backup models is 32°F (0°C); standard models start at -4°F (-20°C).

Battery Backup models require an unswitched hot supply line to maintain battery charge.

Construction & Durability

The slim 1.375” profile aluminum frame and cold-rolled steel back housing are finished in white powder coat for clean integration into standard T-bar drop ceiling grids. IP20 rated and UL listed for damp interior locations. Standard models operate from -4°F to 113°F; Battery Backup models from 32°F to 113°F.

Installation & Mounting

All models are designed for rapid drop-in installation into standard T-bar ceiling grids — no additional hardware required. Optional surface and recessed mounting kits (sold separately) allow installation in drywall hard ceilings. Battery Backup models require an unswitched hot supply line for proper battery charging.
